Source: Odessa American, TexasJan. 16--Winston Dixon said he hopes the driver responsible for the wreck that killed his daughter and three others will accept his punishment as an opportunity to fix his life.Joshua Damon Molinar, 23, pleaded guilty to four state jail felony charges of criminally negligent homicide on Wednesday, more than 20 months after the wreck. He received a sentence of 60 days in the Ector County Detention Center, which began immediately, and five years probation. On May 11, 2012, Molinar was driving a 1997 Ford Mustang on West University Boulevard that contained four passengers -- 19-year-old Whitney Dixon, 18-year-old Russell Chance Raymond, 18-year-old Gae-Linda Danielle Moore and 16-year-old Ariana Nabarrette -- according to previous articles.Molinar survived, but all the others died from injuries they suffered in a wreck that happened when Molinar tried to turn onto Mockingbird Lane without yielding the right of way to the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe."Maybe this is his eye-opener," Winston Dixon said Wednesday. "I hope Joshua can make it. And I hope he doesn't hurt any more kids and other parents don't have to go through what we went through."Molinar also must pay a $2,000 fine and $2,000 worth of restitution. He will have to wear an alcohol detection device as part of his probation agreement. (Alcohol in Molinar's blood was found to be under the legal limit in the accident but he was accused of consuming 24小時迷你倉ntoxicants while driving.)Ector County District Attorney Bobby Bland said all of the victims' families agreed to the terms of the sentence. Bland described it as the best outcome for the case because Molinar will be held to account by probation for five years -- longer than the maximum jail sentence, which he would still face if he violates probation.Dixon said the sentence "feels real light. It's very light. But it's the law." Bland agreed with that assessment."If I'd have gotten the maximum, it would have sounded light," Bland said. The case did not make its way to the prosecutor's office for more than a year. Bland has said he did not hear about the case until May 2013, when Dara Moore, mother of Danielle Moore, asked if the case would be prosecuted. Bland said he then requested the file from Texas Department of Public Safety, had a discussion with the trooper and eventually received the file on July 3.Molinar was indicted July 22 and arrested a day later. Bland on Wednesday said he was thankful for "the persistence of the families in making sure that justice was sought in this case."Several reportedly spoke to Molinar in the courtroom on Wednesday, but he did not make a statement.Contact Corey Paul on Twitter @OAcrime on Facebook at OA Corey Paul or call 432-333-7768.Copyright: ___ (c)2014 the Odessa American (Odessa, Texas) Visit the Odessa American (Odessa, Texas) at .oaoa.com Distributed by MCT Information Services迷你倉旺角
