"It was a big game-changer. It was pretty tough, but it showed everyone that we could stop them and we did when we needed to."Eldorado (4-7) methodically churned out yardage and chewed up clock in the first half, running 40 offensive plays to Wink's 12.After Richardson connected with Jordan Sonnier on a 54-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring, the Eagles responded with a 16-play drive that knotted the contest at 7-7 early in the second quarter. The Wildcats answered right back less than three minutes later, with Richardson scoring the first of his three rushing touchdowns.Richardson totaled 238 yards (158 rushing, 80 passing) in the game and Sonnier rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.Eldorado mounted a 17-play drive on the ensuing drive, but could not cash in despite having first-and-goal from the 7-yard line, and the Wildcats took a 13-7 lead into the break.Opening the second half, Eldorado recovered an onside kick, then the teams traded interceptions with the Eagles returning the latter inside the Wink 5-yard line. That's when the Wildcats made their second goal-line stan儲存 and took control of the game."That was the difference in the game," Wink head coach Andy Hrncir said. "It gave us the momentum back and really fired us up."With Richardson leading the charge, the Wildcats made it count with a 12-play, 99-yard drive that extended their lead to two possessions and appeared to take the fight out of the Eagles."We decided when we got the football back we were going to run it right at them," Hrncir said. "We put the ball in Riley Richardson's hands and he pretty much took over, and Jordan Sonnier was running really well for us, too."Wink tallied 219 of its 371 yards in the second half."It felt great to control the second half like we did," Richardson said. "We just worked together as a team. The linemen did an outstanding job and we were ready."Eldorado ran 68 offensive plays for 218 yards, compared to Wink's 38 plays from scrimmage.Jackson O'Harrow led the Eagles with 84 yards on 22 carries, while Tres Whitten ran for 74 yards on 23 carries and accounted for both Eldorado touchdowns.Eldorado had just one play for more than nine yards in the game, a 38-yard run from O'Harrow in the fourth quarter."We wanted to keep the ball away from them and I thought we did a good job, especially in the first half," Eldorado head coach Bryan Green said. "We just couldn't finish the drives when we needed to. Our kids fought and fought and fought. We just couldn't get it."--Follow Mike Whitson on Twitter at @OAWhitsonCopyright: ___ (c)2013 the Odessa American (Odessa, Texas) Visit the Odessa American (Odessa, Texas) at .oaoa.com Distributed by MCT Information Servicesmini storage
