Source: Detroit Free PressNov.自存倉 10--EAST LANSING -- Eddie George is excited about it."That could be a juicy, juicy match-up," the former Ohio State running back said on SiriusXM Radio last week of the prospect of his alma mater taking on Michigan State in the Big Ten Football Championship Game.ABC color analyst Todd Blackledge started the speculation late in last Saturday's broadcast of MSU's 29-6 win over Michigan."We watched Ohio State last week and were impressed," Blackledge said. "But if those two teams do end up meeting in the Big Ten championship, I like Michigan State's defense and their ability to line up and play against Ohio State. I think that could be a heck of a football game."Doug Chapman, panelist on the Big Ten Network's "Big Ten Football and Beyond," came up with this in a segment on headlines of the future: "Spartans Spoil Buckeyes' BCS Dreams in B1G Title Game.""I'm going to tell you," Chapman said in explaining himself, "the only team I see that can handle Ohio State is Michigan State. ... Michigan State can smack them in the mouth offensively now, and you know what they can do defensively. That's the only team that's going to be able to get to Braxton Miller. ... Michigan State will give Ohio State a run for their money and they will beat them."So, yeah. People are really looking forward to that Fox-televised match-up at 8:17 p.m. on Dec. 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.Except it's not happening for sure. And in light of Nebraska's upset win Saturday at Michigan, there's a huge game just six days away -- No. 18 MSU (8-1, 5-0 Big Ten) at Nebraska (7-2, 4-1), with the winner strongly favo迷你倉ed to take the division and get to Indy.Even before that result, Mark Dantonio's Spartans were walking around with their hands as earmuffs, trying to focus on the Cornhuskers and not the big game everyone else wants to see."We talk about Nebraska and just Nebraska," MSU senior linebacker Denicos Allen said. "We can't control what happens in the future, three or four weeks from now. We can only control what happens (next) weekend. If we don't win, there won't be Ohio State-Michigan State."It's a point being made repeatedly in the MSU locker room."Our seniors know," Dantonio said. "Yeah, we'll address it as we go, but my big rallying point has just been 'Handle success.' Act like you've been there a little bit (and) understand it's extremely challenging for us and there's a lot of work to do."Allen summed up the internal message from veterans to young players like this: " 'If you don't execute this week, then next week is pointless, you know? You've ruined everything. No Big Ten hopes.' So we just play like that, play with that mentality."It's another maturity test, another chance to separate from last season, when the Spartans weren't always able to avoid getting ahead of themselves."We know we can't look too far into the future," MSU junior receiver Tony Lippett said. "Last year we probably did sometimes. 'OK, we've got Iowa this week but we've got Michigan next week.' You can't overlook any team."Especially a program you've never beaten -- MSU is 0-7 all-time against Nebraska.Copyright: ___ (c)2013 the Detroit Free Press Visit the Detroit Free Press at .freep.com Distributed by MCT Information Servicesmini storage
