IR ropes in its celeb chef restaurants for the Aug 16-18 event[SINGAPORE] Marina Bay Sands (MBS) is planning to raise up to $3 million for charity through its inaugural "Sands for Singapore" festival, a major corporate social responsibility (CSR) event that will run for three days next month.迷你倉新蒲崗 The integrated resort (IR) has come up with different ways to raise the funds, such as through an auction that includes items like a football jersey signed by David Beckham during his visit to Singapore earlier this month. MBS has also roped in its entire line-up of celebrity chef restaurants, which have all promised to donate half of the proceeds from the sales of 21 selected signature dishes during the Aug 16-18 festival. The initiatives will benefit the IR's designated beneficiaries and other local non-profit organisations including Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Singapore Association for the Deaf, the Metta School and Art Outreach Singapore. George Tanasijevich, president and chief executive officer of MBS, explained that while CSR has been a part of his organisation's culture since day one, this festival is being positioned as an annual event that all its 9,000 employees can both participate in and take ownership of. "When we were brand new in the market, we tended to support other people's causes and events, which typically amounted to cutting cheques," he told The Business Times in a recent interview. "After we h迷你倉出租d a greater sense of what the market needs and where the gaps might be in Singapore, we wanted to create something that we could call our own, something that would complement the work that we're already doing to support worthy causes," he said. The plan is to tap the IR's numerous facilities to host meaningful events during the festival, be it the theatre for a dance performance by the O School or the sprawling Event Plaza for the Community Chest's annual Heartstrings Walk. MBS will also donate all proceeds from four main attractions - the ArtScience Museum, the Sampan River, the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck and the Skating Rink - to the Community Chest. Mr Tanasijevich admitted that there are "great expectations" on MBS' shoulders when it comes to giving back to the community. "Frankly, I think there should be. But regardless of external expectations, we have our own motivations and expectations when it comes to CSR," he said. "What's most talked about in the media is the economic or tourism goals or other milestones that we've achieved. Our CSR activities, however, are just as important a goal for us," he added. His wish is to see "Sands for Singapore" evolve into one of the IR's signature events that people will look forward to each year, as well as to help develop a greater awareness of helping others in need. "It will be good for those of us here at MBS as well as for the rest of Singapore," he said.儲存倉
