Source: Chicago TribuneOct.self storage 09--Chicago-based TempoDB, a technology company that stores and analyzes large amounts of time-specific data captured by Internet-connected sensors, has raised $3.2 million in funding from a group of mostly local investors.The fresh capital brings TempoDB's total funding to $4.2 million and will allow it to hire more software engineers and sales staff. In August, when TempoDB outgrew its office at Catapult, a shared space in River North for startups, it had six full-time employees. It plans to add four employees this year and another eight in 2014. The company was founded in December 2011 and makes technology that stores billions of time-related data points from sensors such as thermostats. Its customers represent sectors such as energy, infrastructure and health care."We started TempoDB to solve the deep technical challenges we faced as developers trying to make sense of data from sensors and connected devices," Andrew Cronk, chief executive and co-founder, said in a statement, adding: "The demand is huge. Compa迷利倉ies in nearly every industry are looking to transform their business with sensor data."Cronk and his fellow co-founders, Michael Yagley and Justin DeLay, hail from Michigan. In early 2012, TempoDB was accepted to TechStars Cloud, a startup accelerator program in San Antonio that focuses on cloud computing companies. The team initially planned to move to San Francisco after graduating from the program, but decided to come to Chicago, where they founders had lived and worked previously.Chicago-based Hyde Park Venture Partners led the $3.2 million investment round, which also included Chicago Ventures, Divergent Ventures and the company's previous angel investors.
